Helicopter Helmet Gentex Sph2 Micheadset 1950 60S

Helicopter Helmet Gentex Sph2 Micheadset 1950 60s

This helmet has been painted green, the tint shield has scratches, but no cracks and moves up and down. The inner lining is missing, the speakers and mic are intact with wires. This appears to be a size small. It has a nameplate of t. P.
Cranna on the back see the picture. The helmet seems to have been painted over for combat use. The best guess on the time period is 50s and early 1960s as the link suggests. It appears to match the gentrex helmet omdel sph-2 rotary wing aircraft. The person who had this seemed to think it was from ww ii but the information from gentex does not agree. Pictures were shown to a retired usaf coronel who was a pilot. Some of his comments are i think it was likely used by (pilot, jumpmaster, gunner, pararescue/pj) in a low altitude observation aircraft, cargo or refueling aircraft, or perhaps an army helicopter. There was very little linning in these helmets, more like removable padding and straps. My first helmet, which i wore from 1977 into the mid-80s had velcro in the same position shown in the picture and held the earphones in place. Here is a link to the information found to identify this helmet. Http//www. Gentexcorp. Com/default. Aspx? Pageid=1121. Sph-2.1950s nad early 1960s. Usninternational bidders please email for prices.
