2.25 original military rocket. Measures 2 1/4 diameter, 29 long, 8 across fins, & weight is 10 lb.
Head is 3 long, body is 26 long, each fin is 5 long & sticks out 3 from side of rocket. It has 4 fins. Head is stamped-2.25 in-rocket head-mk3-mod. O-lot 368-c-dr. No.424977-1 the body is originally gray & looks like a sort of powder coat. It has been repainted yellow & then green, (really ugly). I scrapped some of the outer paint off with a razor blade looking for markings.
There is a stamped tag on the side but most of the ink is gone, all i can make out is 2.25 in rocket. It has 4 lines ni this ink stamped tag. It hsa 2 mounting / firing buttons, one is is 1 1/2 back from the head, the second is 1 in front of the fins. They stick up 1/2, have 2 spaced washers & the center has a brass insert. I believe, but don't know for sure, that this is an early production rocket as was used on ww2 propeller driven fighters. I also believe, but don't know for sure, that this was probably a teaching aid for fighter ground crews to practice loading on aircraft. It is na original rocket that was never loaded with propellant & has an inert head. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.
